Mentors

Each year Lower 6th students are invited to apply to train as Mentors.  Twenty-five students are given specialist training in mentoring by Childline representatives.  The Mentors are then alert to the needs and signs and symptoms of problems which may arise among younger students

One Mentor in Lower 6 is assigned to each class (Years 8 -12) with the main aim of getting to know the students in order to assist with problems if they arise, also to help with class events e.g. fundraising etc.

Five Lower 6 Mentors are assigned to each year group. They are assigned one day per week at lunchtime where they can be contacted in a designated area by pupils who feel they have need of advice/support.  Any further support can be organised after an initial meeting.

Every pupil in Years 8 and 9 is assigned to a particular mentor in Lower 6 or Upper 6. Each mentor therefore has responsibility for six pupils.

Mentors meet on a regular basis to report to Head of Sixth Form and the Pastoral Vice Principal.
